review 1: With twisty murder-mystery/sci-fi storylines and artwork that really evokes early 20th-century Paris, my interest was held throughout the book, but overall I wasn't left with much of an impression afterwards. Part of the reason I found this less compelling may have had to do with the fact that I only had access to the English translation, which committed some of the same faux pas other French-to-English works have suffered; namely, replacing colloquialisms with altogether British-y phrases (the most common error being that of having working-class characters speak with Cockney-like accents). I'm sure much of the Gallic flavor of the original was lost.
review 2: Graphic fiction--two related tales about a psychically controlled dinosaur and a flying machine made t
... moreo look like it, both of which attack Parisians during the late Belle Epoque. The art reflects the era strongly; the stories are very silly and require all sorts of explication from the characters even to make the minimal sense that they do. Adequate if read as a sendup or a nonsense bonbon....but a little goes a long way. less
