review 1: While the over all story is great, there were a few things about that did sit well with me. One, there is no way Caesar would be engaging in hard fast sex with several broken ribs plus the other damaged he suffered from the attack. The second thing is the hotel where there were given a room on the first floor then we find Caesar climbing the wall up to their room on the second floor. paying attention to details is important! The third thing is that a three year veteran cop who is the don of a cop never thought that his car might be bugged? That was the first thing I thought of..and I am not a cop. As I said, it is a good story. I would even recommend it to friends.
review 2: 3.5 starsPros:-Two strong protagonists: Caesar (construction worker and part-time home ... morerobber) and Nate (LAPD cop)-Seriously steamy sex scenes-Some diversity (Caesar is Hispanic)-Cute dog with a big personalityCons:-Los Angeles setting (I know, I know; this might be a con only for me, but I lived in that city for too many years and loathe it with every cuticle)-Absurdly contrived crime investigation involving dirty cops, coercion, and a child-porn ring (maybe? It's never really clear as to why the other cops don't want Nate investigating the case, except that the perp is a cop)-A fly-by-night attitude toward the legal system (major cases like this are NOT tried in a month!), surprising considering the author bio claims that Buchanan works in lawOverall, this was an enjoyable read, nothing earth-shattering but fun and quick paced. less
