review 1: The thing with this book is, that it's sort of different from the usual romantic books we usually read, and when you read as much as I do, a change is a good thing! That being said, I can't really put my finger on what exactly made it different (yes I'm being awkward, I know). What I can say is that Joe's thoughts are a joy to read. You know how, when you read a book, told from a first person POV, you read his thinking, but want mostly, to hear what he says? Well Joe was a clever and witty talker, but his thoughts, and what went inside his head? That was an absolute treasure to read!!I just couldn't get enough of his talking head!I need to find out, one day, if it's ME, that find the books that deals with extreme religious subjects so interesting/beautiful/captivating, or is... more it that the authors that write this deep religious stories, that are just so good?!?! But it looks like a most of them are ending with 4 or 5 stars reviews from me, or even at my-all-time-fav shelf.I must say that I'm not a BDSM fan, and that is a bit of an understatement, and I could do without this scenes, but I can see it plays a part in the story, and it wasn't all that extreme, so... No biggie!
review 2: The most beautiful, touching story with the hottest sex scenes I've ever read. After reading as many books in this genre as I have, everything seems the same, or close to it, but it's so not the case in this book. It was refreshing, different, good different, romantic, endearing. I liked Joe, oh boy, I did, but I loved Kabe something fierce. And the chemistry between the two of them was through the roof. The light BDSM aspect was very hot and sexy to read. I think it should be mentioned that this story deals with somehow heavy subject of Mormon church views on relationships between two men that made me very angry and fiercely protective of Joe or any gay man, for that matter. It hurt me to read some of the things that were said, but I understand that it's a subject of this book and it needed to be discussed here. Still, it hurt to much. But I was very proud of how Joe dealt with it and how Kabe tried to help and shield him from evil pastor. Even if Joe and Kabe wouldn't admit to one another, or even to themselves, you can feel love blossoming between them and I can't wait to read the continuation to their story. I loved it. less

Really enjoyed it on the whole. There's a lot of climbing speak (be forewarned) but a good read.
