review 1: Police Sergeant Vince Paulo is holding the daughter of his best friend who is dying when she utters that her boyfriend Jamal had killed her. And explosion then burns the house down and blinds Vince. Three years later, Jack Swyteck is called in to save Jamal from a lifetime at Gitmo. Jack gets him freed and he is immediately arrested for the murder of the girl. Jamal claims he was at a secret detention center in Prague when the girl was killed. Jack is sent on a whirlwind trek through Europe trying to clear Jamal. Jamal is later murdered himself, only confusing the investigation even more.
review 2: Another thriller featuring Miami criminal defense attorney, Jack Swyteck. In this outing, Jack is called upon to defend a guy who may or may not be a murderer of a t
... moreeenage girl. Or he might be a terrorist and if so, he might have been a prisoner in a 'black site' in Prague at the time of the murder. There's very little lawyering in this book, but there's a lot of action and international intrique. Maybe Grippando was trying to channel John LeCarre. Lawyers generally don't lead this kind of exciting life! It was far-fetched but good for a few hours of reading. less

Pretty good. Would give it 4 stars if it weren't so confusing.
