review 1: A quote on the cover favorably compares The Deep Zone to The Andromeda Strain. I don't agree with the comparison, but The Deep Zone is still a good action novel with a smattering of science tossed in. It has nowhere near the scientific detail of The Andromeda Strain, which I found disappointing. But my one big complaint is about the romantic subplot. *spoiler* Can we please have a good action book with a strong female lead who doesn't have to fall in love with the big brave man who saves her?! Geez! If I want romance, I'll go buy a damn Harlequin from Wal-Mart.
review 2: I was about 3/4 of the way through this book, and I suddenly realized I just didn't care what happened. This is the first book with Hallie Leland, and I actually kind of was hoping she would di
... moree in the cave, which doesn't say much for my liking of the character, and since I read books for the characters more than the plot, I stopped reading the book and moved on to a much better series about a Maine game warden.I just really don't like books that jump from scene to scene. It doesn't allow me to get involved in the characters. I honestly would not have known that Hallie was the main character, if it was in the title on Goodreads. less

A real page turner. I "never say die" book with a great female heroine.
