review 1: Why is the print so big? You don't get many words to the page - lots of unnecessary paper! Also, why is there a new chapter every 3 or 4 pages? It stops the story flowing. Bad move guys! The story reflects the American paranoia following 9/11 and, not being American, I can't really comment on that. It's an easy read, like most of his books and there's plenty of action, but nothing different or exciting.
review 2: I notice that this book did not get many favorable reviews, but I am not sure why. It certainly isn’t the best book that I have ever read, but it was not the worst either. I thought that it was entertaining and it kept me turning the page. I didn’t care a whole lot about the villains, but I liked that they kept the identity of the kidnapper from u
... mores until Alex found out as well. I also really like Bree as a character. That may be why I am enjoying these later installments more than other readers are. I feel like the kidnapper’s storyline did end a bit abruptly. He wanted to kill Alex, and the book is even titled after that, but he didn’t even attempt to kill him. I found that a bit weird. It was a pretty average book with a terrorism element, but I still found it entertaining. I found it hard to stop reading. 3.5/5 stars less

Everyone and no one wants a piece of Alex Cross. There's a new(?) group, similar to Al Queda, who have multiple goals - kill heads of state - AND kill & terrorize as many Americans as possible. All of the agencies are telling Cross they DON'T need his help. THEY'VE got it covered. He can't even get past a simple crime scene tape. By the time they decide they can't live without him, he's heavily on to another agenda. The President's kids are missing, apparently easily snatched from their private school. Are these plots related? Enjoyed this one.

Patterson does it again! A race against time, suspense, nail biting nerves and heart goes into making the Alex Cross series one that is hard to put down. The writing is realistic and compassionate. Alex Cross is law enforcement with a heart. Fast paced and riveting, you want to see justice served as you speedd through to see who the villian is and how the rescue is going to take place. Weel worth the ride and what a ride it was.
