review 1: This book is similar to the previous volume - too much story in not enough space. For all the world building and characters included, there are large swaths where it feels like there are other issues being referenced, but I don't think those other issues exist. This focuses a bit more on a single story than the previous volume, with the attack on Steppenwolf and Dherain forming the core, although there are still lots of loose strands (like a subplot with Mr. Miracle and Barda, and a detective story with Hawkgirl) that are left hanging about. But Dherain and Steppenwolf are the central conflict, as his new villains are introduced, and then there's a shocking turn and reveal at the end that seems pretty out-of-left-field. I'm invested enough that I'll be curious to see how... more it all gets explained. Again, there's a strong world built here that really feels like it needs more room to breathe to really tell all of its stories. Someone needs to loosen the corset and let the stories flow as they seem to want to.
review 2: This was just ok. It's sad really, I loved the first volume it was very engaging but then the next volume was not great, and this volume was just ok. It is nice to look at, the art is fine, it doesn't blow you away.My biggest issue is that I feel like I am not connected to the characters, they fight, doesn't feel like there is a lot at stake. The end had a nice little twist which drew me in enough where I'm interested in reading vol 4 and a change of writer might be good. Everyone loves Tom Taylor on Injustice, he might be able to catch lighting in a bottle twice with these ongoing elsworlds. less

Matt I really enjoyed most of this. It's like a DC Ultimate Universe!

This is a slow building story. Kind of exhausting.
