review 1: Colonel Jon Smith is attending a conference in The Hague. He awakes one night to find himself in the gun sights of a killer. While he escapes, the attack on his hotel is a cover for Oman Dattar, a Pakistani warlord being tried for crimes against humanity, to escape from his prison cell. Smith has faced Dattar before, and Dattar puts in motion a plot to kill Smith and exact revenge on the western world at the same time. Covert One springs into action. The novel is full of close calls, deaths, and heart stopping action. In the end, Jon Smith and his team win out, and Dattar's plot is foiled. Typical for a Covert One novel.
review 2: Totally enjoyed reading this one. Liked the fast paced, action packed, the strong plot, great cast of characters, and being c
... morelose to the real world. Made for some great reading, Jamie Freveletti who I just started reading, hit a home run with this one and it's well worth it for any reader to check out her books. This was the first-time I've read a Covert-One novel. Really because of my Kindle, I've started to read this style of thriller really like it and it's a refreshing change to Westerns. Which I primarily read. I'm not going to get into the plot, their are a bunch of really good reviews on here already, but wanted to mention rather regarding some of the reviews complaining about the book being ghost written and not an Ludlum original.I can't see anyone picking up this book, look at the cover and not realize Ludlum didn't write it or feel cheated by it. To be a truly written ghost book, it would only have Robert Ludlum's name on and it wouldn't say clearly across the bottom cover written by Jamie Freveletti. The western genre has several long running series, that are true ghost written books were various author's write new titles monthly and they don't have their names on them.Lastly, anytime I start a series in the middle of it, like this one being No. 9. I just expect or hope that the author sells me on wanting to pick-up the rest of the series and Jamie Freveletti does just this with 'the Janus Reprisal'. less
