review 1: One of the best written books I have read in a long time. The main character Agnes was quite interesting and well spoken for a 17 yr. old. Some of this I found a bit unbelievable being it was the middle of the 1700s, but for the story to be worth reading, she had to overcome her predicament and make a life for herself. I like that it was a plot I couldn't figure out. It did surprise me. It would be nice to continue Agnes' story! I found this at a Dollar Tree store too.
review 2: 1750's London where a 17 year old girl, that was taken advantage of, does desperate things to survive. Good description of the streets of London, the mean attitudes of those who lived there in the dog eat dog world of poverty, with pyrotechnics worked into the mix. A different read th... moreat I enjoyed very much. A few surprises along the way, that I did not pre-guess in the plot. Would make for an excellent movie. less
