review 1: I listened to this one and the narrator was possibly the worst I've ever read. I kept listening but it was quite the task. I may have liked it better had I read it myself but definitely not my top pick of Jane Green's. I really like her writing so have been reading quite a few of her books lately but this one missed it's mark. Between the terrible narration and some of the words that she used I give this one a 2.5.
review 2: Three and a half stars really. There is a lot about this book that is average and predictable. Huge hints that something was going to happen with Sylvie's husband Mark. Eve's journey and ending were both obvious from the begining. In fact, the fate of each of the main characters is clear from the beginning. I didn't care, though, because
... more I wanted to hear how these characters got where I knew they would go. Maggie, Sylvie, Eve, and Grace had strong voices, even if they weren't always strong characters. The messages about beauty and strength are strong themes in chick lit, and though delivered somewhat heavy handedly, they worked well with these characters and this story. The novel is mis-marketed. Mark's role is as a catalyst to these themes. His character and motives are never developed, but they don't need to be. Family Pictures is a textbook example of chick lit. less

It was short and an audio book, and I had nothing else to listen to at the time. Enough said.
