review 1: wow amazing book. Accurate research, cunning writing and cliff hangers at the end of every chapter. A different style from what I normally read or have ever read it had a distinct flavor if you will. Lovely book with a wonderful cover, good writing, and above all originality. the latter is amazing since this is essentially a re-telling of snow white. read read read it. I highly recommend it and can not believe it isn't more popular I am hoping to get some of the author's other works. That's how much I enjoyed reading it
review 2: Snow in Summer by Jane Yolen was a unique but fun read. It took a bit to get used to the unique writing style but once I did I really began enjoying the story. It is depressing for most of the book but in true fairy tale style you get
... morea happily ever after. The plot was a seamless blend of modern time settings with magical happenings. I would forget the setting is in modern times several times until mention of something modern would remind me. The characters were very interesting. I didn't personally connect to any of them but I did care for some of them like Summer and Cousin Nancy. The book does switch points of view fairly regularly but having the chapter titles helped keep things straight so I never got confused after the first instance. Overall I would recommend this book, specifically to fairy tale lovers like me. less

An American adaption of the traditional Snow White story. A long build up to a very fast conclusion.

Appalachian Snow White. Possibly written as bibliotherapy after Jane Yolen's husband passed away?
