review 1: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is told from the perspective of a woman's three souls, hovering near her body after death. She can not move on until she atones for something she has done, but she doesn't know what that is. Her souls guide her through memories of her life, so that she can learn what she needs to do. I was very moved by this story--there is a reality to it, that I realized afterwards is because it is based on the author's own family history, her grandmother's story. I also loved the perspective of looking at one's life from the point of the soul after death. I think this would be a great choice for book clubs--it's a quick read, interesting, engaging, romantic, and moving. It's hard to believe this is a first time novelist.
review 2: I
... moret took me about 2/3 of the book to stop comparing this story to A Christmas Carroll, but beyond that and the minimal closure at the end, this book was really wonderful. The main character discovers happiness where she least expects it, and recognizes it too late. I thought I'd struggle to read about a mother dying so young, but you spend so much time with her ghost, that by the time you see her death, you've come to terms. less

More like 3.5. I liked it, didn't love it, but liked it. Video review eventually.
