Delilah's Diary
review 1: This book was read for the Back to School reading Challenge – Read a book with an item used in school. “Diary” was my choice. This book has an awesome beginning. Delilah’s world as she knows it is turned upside down and she does like most of us would – she runs.As the story progresses, we follow Delilah as she meets a couple of awesome gays who give her the fashion and makeup advice she needs. (Most girls has a go to gay, and a gay best friend is not a new premise, so why is Delilah so confused by them? I can’t buy that she’s never come across gay men like these!)My only issue with this book – the book is a diary that Delilah is writing. She is in Rome and manages to type in what I guess to be perfect Italian, a few sentence shared I anger and fear between t... morewo characters. However on the next page, she doesn’t know the exact meaning of ‘Mia Bella’. I can speak a lot of French and I understand it, but I would not be able to type word for word an exchange between two people in French that I had heard hours earlier. I admit, this is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the book and have no reason other than current time and planned reading, not to read the next in the short series. I recommend this book to everyone who likes quick reads, simple romances and sex.
review 2: I found this book very hard to enjoy. Premise sounded fun and light but it wasn't fun and it was tiring to read. I find Delilah a too naive and innocent but it wasn't the kind where I can relate to. She's been too sheltered and much too ignorant for her own good. Plot is a little too over the top with her whore-ing husband that's slept with more than half the town included someone from her own family. WTF?! I don't understand how she just up-picks everything and goes on with life. I digress. Another thing that bugged me was the whole divorce process....who gets a divorce settled in a week?! And why give him everything except the cash?! Sounds like a terrible divorce attorney to suggest that kind of deal. Oh and $20k...uh...you can't just buy new material things and just hop on a plane with $20k...that's not going to get you anywhere long enough to settle in. I just find it all hard to believe.Overall, this story was not the least bit convincing. I would definitely not recommend.... less
