review 1: Lots of little language errors - they're supposed to actually speak that language and it gets 'translated' to us but instead you have characters asking for translations?? Or maybe she thinks in english?? And the descriptions aboit the words themselves that would NOT fit another language (syllables, i love you=3 words, even describing how the words are said WHICH WOULD BE DIFFERENT IN JAPANESE.) But if you ignore the mangling of Japanese culture (which I pretty easily did; it actually didn't bother me that much but then again I'm not Japanese) you have a nice story. I did love the relationship between Yukiko and Buruu. That was cuuuute.~3.5 stars

... moreurope setting, this is a rather wonderful book. Brilliant imagination courtesy the tapping into Japanese mythology, the book holds good until towards the very end where things fall into place rather conveniently. With an interesting and mismatched pair of protagonists and a great supporting pair, the book does not shy away from the gritty reality and yet is not depressing. less
