review 1: A paranormal romance about family legacies, perseverance, and seeing what is real. The ploy has mystery, danger, and people who are not what they seem. Practical Alice and dangerous Drake, both powerful and unmatchable talents, are stock Castle characters. There is some sex, but Alice spends too much time apologizing for being repressed. I like Alice's wry coping with a second honeymoon and her dust bunny Houdini steals the scene. * I won this book from Writerspace.com *
review 2: While I'm really liking the Rainshadow Island setting--there were some genuinely spooky moments in this one and the first one--the romance side of the equation felt a bit neglected to me. Not that there weren't sparks in plenty, but it didn't feel like Drake and Alice had much to over... morecome to get their HEA. Nor did Drake really come alive for me as a hero. However an average Krentz is still a good read: well-written, strong pacing, etc. For instance, I really appreciated the fact that Alice DIDN'T get locked in the freezer. less
