review 1: I have always been a Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle/Amanda Quick fan. And the paranormal books set in Harmony have been some of my favorite. The heroine, Rachel Bonner, can detect the auras of dangerous criminals. She found work at the Chapman Clinic and is fired after warning her boss that one of its patients was faking his illness. Rachel returns to Rainshadow Island to start a new life after inheriting a book store and cafe from her aunts. She even gets adopted by a dust bunny pet, Darwina, to begin her new life. (Dust bunnies adopt humans, not the other way around).Harry Sebastian is the head of security for his family company. Harry is also the only descendent whose gifts are the most like his ancestor pirate who discovered Rainshadow Island. Harry has been called t... moreo Rainshadow because something is going on inside the Preserve and it is beginning to threaten those that call Rainshadow home. This book is a great combination of mystery, passion, and humor. Rachel and Harry create fireworks with their passion that leap off the pages. While the suspenseful plot kept me wondering, I freely admit that one of my favorite parts of all of the Harmony books is watching the evolution of the dust bunnies.
review 2: Rachael Blake, who had the ability to detect the auras of psychic criminals, had been raised in the protected Harmony Colony and had attended Harmonic Enlightment School of Inner Balance. As an adult, she wanted to blend into the mainstream world so she went to work for Dr. Ian Oakford in his mental health hospital. He hired her to use her talent to balance his patients’ aura. When Rachel was asked to balance Marquis Lancastle’s aura, Rachel sensed something so evil that she quit the therapy and told Dr. Oakford that Lancastle’s aura didn’t need balancing. Dr. Oakford fired her.Rachael left for Rainshadow Island to run the bookstore that her aunts had left her. She meets Harry Sebastian who arrived on the island to investigate the unusual disturbances in his family’s privately owned forest called The Preserve. Though they were attractive to one another they were hesitant to act upon their emotions because of their abilities. The adventure began when psychic criminals tried to use the technology the original inhabitants of the planet left to control the planet. The Lost Night was a fun read enhanced with Joyce Bean’s storytelling. less
