review 1: I've been meaning to read a book my Nancy Mehl for a while, so I checked this one out of the library. It got my interest right away. I will say that I had trouble coming up with a voice for Sam. I couldn't hear him speaking in my head - his tone of voice, accent, etc. Why was his aunt's speech so rough, and his (and the rest of the townsfolk)wasn't? I did like the other characters though. What I really liked about this book was the message that I received. I think it was God's timing that I read this book, and I really appreciated the spiritual messages.
review 2: Nancy Mehl did a good job at capturing the readers interest right away.However, the plot took to long to develop and the answer to "who did it?" was drawn out a bit.In my opinion,the way the rel... moreationship with Gracie and Sam Goodrich developed was a bit unbelievable and developed rather instantaneously.The overall aura in the city of Harmony was breath-taking and utopian.What would America be like if more neighborhoods took an interest in aiding and caring for its neighbor?Very idealistic,but without the "religious" underscores.Good story,but a more tempered and developed conclusion was needed. less
