review 1: Fome. Fomísimo. Pero lo leí entero a la espera de algún final chistoso o absurdo o qué se yo. El hueón corría y era bueno en ello y luego ya no. De fondo, el comunismo checo. Y sería. Sin épica, sin poesía, sin paisajes, sin esa cosa mínima que sí hay en "De qué hablo cuando hablo de correr" o en "Correr con los keniatas", guardando las diferencias de género obviamente. Todo está perfectamente escrito y es perfectamente anodino. Nunca había escrito esa palabra: anodino.
review 2: This book is the fictionalized biography of Emil Zatopek; a chetz runner that didn't like to run at all; but to whom winning became such a passion that he began to explore the limits of human capacity. This is a wonderful novel that makes the reader feel as thought she i... mores inside the runner's skin. The author manages to have the reader always over the edge; suspicious; awaiting for the moment when the catastrophe will show its ugly face. However; the catastrophe never happens: it is just a life. A life with ups and downs as any other extraordinary life. Great book! less
