review 1: As much as we bandy around the term "post-apocalyptic," this volume sees Lemire really starting to play with the overtly religious themes that he introduced in the previous two collections. Even though its twisted Christian eschatology (as well as the increasing prevalence of prophetic dreams) pushed this volume into more fantastic territory, I nonetheless found it the most compelling of the series to this point.
review 2: Okay, Mr. Lemire, I'm hooked. You've got me. I have to find out what happens next. The fact that I know there is a definite ending to this comic book at this halfway point actually makes it all the more compelling. Nothing is as predictable as it seems which is harder than you may think with a comic book. And Jeppard and Sweet Tooth have
... more a compelling relationship in the story. I am dying to see what Sweet Tooth's origin really is and why was his father so religious. less
