review 1: A lot of great food for thought on daily life, what we have, what we take for granted, what we qualify as necessities that may actually be instead conveniences, and a lot of suggestions for ways to experiment in your own life to give back as well as to understand what is "enough". The bits about Personal Adequacy - "Personal Adequacy Is the Beginning to Understanding Enough I never saw myself as enough." and "It hit me. It wasn’t the picture that was the problem; it was me. I didn’t like me. I didn’t like how I looked. I didn’t look good enough. I didn’t compare. I wanted to be something else or someone else." was a bell ringer for me. I also found the bits about community though provoking - "The more self-sufficient we are, the less we need others. The less we ... moreneed others, the less likely we are to form the bonds of true community. Convenience enhances self-reliance, increases ease, and ironically, separates us from real relationships with people who have real needs."
review 2: i loved the overall theme and message, and it actually DID inspire me to jump out of my bed, and actually give away over half of my closet, and examine where im spending my money.it is very inspiring, but i give it 3 stars because it became repetitive and i didnt like the self-promoting companies and businesses jeff shinabarger started. otherwise a good book, no quotable quotes though. less
