review 1: Audiobook Review4 StarsIn a divergence from Dr. Bill Brockton's stateside forensic investigations, he travels to Avignon, France, to excavate and identify the bones of someone who was important between 700 and 2000 years ago, perhaps some one VERY important. A very strong forensic crime novel, with just the right touch of skullduggery (that wasn't meant to be a pun, but let's run with it).The best part of this story is that it will drive you to research the history of the Papal reigns and geopolitics of Avignon. The narrator Tom Stechschulte is a little weak. I personally don't care for the tone of his voice, but apparently he is the voice of Dr. Bill and we'll just have to live with it.
review 2: Bill Brockton is consulting with the Tennessee Bureau of Investig
... moreation when he gets a worrying call from an associate of his assistant Miranda, who has gone to France to help excavate a newly discovered chamber beneath Avignon's Palace of the Pope. He rushes to be at her side only to find that it is a ruse to get him to France and then he is convinced to help them with their find: a skeleton that may be Jesus of Nazareth. This is definitely a cozy with few twists and turns, except perhaps at the end. Enjoyable never the less as long as you don't think too much about the story. Like how could Brockton leave his university and the Body Farm at the drop of a hat -- or stay away when he committed to helping the TBI? How is it that at his age he doesn't realize that he has fallen in love with Miranda? Why does it take him so long to suspect what is happening under his nose? less
