Whore by Willow Aster Review

Beautiful, intelligent, independent, strong-willed, wealthy…
Lilith Fontenot seems, by all appearances, to have it all. But that’s not how the highest paid prostitute in New Orleans sees herself.
A stain on society. A scourge. A waste. Outsider. Prisoner…
Any idyllic dream of the normal life she may have once imagined, Lilith buried long ago. Her only plan now is survival.
But mob boss Nico Santelli and community center owner Soti Christos have not given up on Lilith. Each has his own very specific, very opposing, plans for her, and neither will rest until it becomes a reality.

WHORE is a singularly bracing take on an ancient tale of tireless love, betrayal, and the possibility of redemption.

I loved this book. It was an escape for me, and I haven’t read a book that forced me to escape in a while. I was living my life with Lillith and gosh, it was either so darn sweet or so darn terrifying. Most of the sweet parts included Soti, who I’m pretty positive needs his own book. I need more of him. His background, how he became who he is, his philosophies. I need all of it. Kudos to Willow Aster for creating this character, because he is one of the best male leads I’ve read in a while.

I loved that this book included the metamorphosis that happens when a woman becomes a mother. I haven’t read nearly enough books that encompass this and I have been craving this scenario to be brought to life in a book. Willow mastered it.

I had my reservations about reading Whore due to the intensity of the title, but I can’t really live by that judgmental philosophy because helloooooooo, my favorite book has the F word in the title. I was wondering if Whore was going to be heavy on the smut side and light on everything else. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The subjects tackled in this story are intense and heartfelt and I will never use the word smut in the same sentence with this book ever again because it just feels wrong!

This was my first read by Willow Aster but it will not be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style. The insights she included about kindness and selfless love are EVERYTHING. I can’t wait to read more by her and see what other types of characters she has created. I so easily became a Willow fan with this book.

“There will always be someone out there perpetuating hate, judgement, or that sneaky little lack of emotion called indifference. Screw that, let’s err on the side of love.”
