review 1: Match of Wits is like nothing I've ever read before. It's filled with humor, plots and twists, laughter and suspense. The book had me wandering what would happen next and I was definitely moved by Agatha's story. Someone wants her dead and as the reader your gripping for answers to find who that is. The danger in this book makes it completely fun and you just never know what will happen at the next corner in the story, which makes this a great read. The author did a fantastic job at keeping the reader interested, yet keeping a smooth plot, while having a very strong female character. If you're looking for something of a romance, a comedic relief, suspenseful, lighthearted and something you've never read before, I recommend this one! Match of Wits will not disapp... moreoint!
review 2: Take a wild ride with Agatha! Lots of madcap antics in this book including dynamite in a mine and a fight in a department store. It's a lighthearted and enjoyable story. This is the type of historical Christian novel that I most like. Agatha Watson and Zayne Beckett are the main characters in this story. Agatha is very independent for the times and even sometimes carries a gun strapped to her leg. Zayne is a normal, nice guy. From the first pages I knew this would be a fun story. On the first page it said that Agatha had to stop shrieking because it hurt her ears. That's when she met Matilda the pig who ended up becoming her pet. Matilda's a great character and at times charged at people who were bothering Agatha. The story started in Colorado where Agatha accidentally found her old friend, Zayne. He had to use a cane because his leg hadn't healed properly from an accident. Later he broke his leg again but this time it was a good thing because it would enable the doctor to set it properly to regain full use of his leg. The story was also set in New York. Other wacky happenings involved the cart that Agatha's friend Charlotte invented for Zayne to get around in. The part where Zayne and Mr. Blackheart decided that Agatha needed a husband wasn't my favorite part. I did like the part where Zayne realized how much he cared for Agatha. His niece, Piper, helped him to realize that.I was surprised how many times the word brothel was used, especially in an inspirational novel. I didn't like the spelling of Zayne (seems more like a modern spelling with the Y in it) and Piper didn't seem like a name they'd have back then.I would read others in this series and maybe sometime I'll check one out from the library.I received this book from bookfun.org (and the publisher) in return for my opinion. less
