review 1: I prefer books with a little more mysticism, magic and the like. I was surprised I liked these books so much. It is a great story, and easily read. I am not the fastest reader, so I enjoy the easy one. Although I pride myself in being able to see plot twists in stories, I caught most of the big ones, but still had some great surprises throughout all the books. Glad I decided to give it a try. Thanks Amazon for recommending this.
review 2: For a YA book, this was an interesting read. At times, it was quite predictable and felt a bit forced (i.e. any of the romance), but somewhere around the last third of the book, new twists were revealed that kept the plot fresh. It was hard to feel close to the main character, Sage, who reveals very little about himself. He is... more mischievous, cunning, secretive, and manipulative, but also sympathetic, loyal, and honorable - a very complex character, indeed. less
