review 1: Throughout this book, I kept thinking "fun!" to myself. It was a real pleasure to see how much Bea has changed from the beginning of the series where she was just learning to use her skills and was romantically awkward. Her love life doesn't get much better, for the most part, but her attitude completely shifts. As she is getting to know herself, she is also expressing what it is she wants and she's not putting up with any bull from the male folk...not even the ultimatum put down by the Vampire Lord of San Diego. Bea is also embracing her "shadow" side, the side of her that is a fighter and a killer. Instead of becoming a worse person for it, she becomes stronger, more responsible, and more appreciative of life. Oh, and did I mention the "fun?" It's there every step o... moref the way.
review 2: I LOVE this series! And from the looks of this one they might be getting away from the awful covers the previous 2 books had. This one finds Bea at odds with Will and much of the rest of the team after the events of TO CATCH A VAMPIRE. Oliver is the only one who's sticking by her and they have become quite good friends. After a big row, she decides to go home to San Diego for Christmas and reevaluate her options. Needless to say, nothing runs smoothly for Bea anymore not even the holidays! A run in with the local VERY hot vampire master is just the tip of the iceberg. Great reading in a series that just keeps getting better. Looking forward to #4. RECOMMEND! less
