review 1: I was a little dubious in the beginning of this book when Bea is first introduced to the F.R.E.A.K.s. Her learning curve seemed really high and she seemed overly timid and reluctant. However, I quickly realized a lot of that was setup for the uninitiated readers, and Bea throws herself into a supernatural murder mystery with courage and resolve. The book is chock full of action, supernatural thrills, and interaction. Except for the zombies and gore, it also reads like a COZY mystery - smart woman who solves things with ingenuity. Keep the books coming Ms. Harlow!
review 2: I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Given the title, I was actually expecting a lower age reading level, maybe fore a 12 year old or so. She mentions the best place in town for a quick... moreie within the first few pages, so this is not a kid's book. The plot is well rounded, with a lot of action, and good flow between characters and situations. The main character is humorous, realistic and witty. All the characters are likeable, and I feel this is once of those new-blood monster books that rebel against the Twilight Series, i.e. no sparkly virgin vampires here. I look forward to reading the second. less
