review 1: Luke is a damaged and complex second son of the Duke of Trent. He's on a journey to find his mother, the Dowager Duchess of Trent, who has been missing for several months. He meets Emma, a widow searching for her husband's killer, and discover they both seek the same mysterious man who may hold answers for both their questions. During their travels, Jake and Emma uncover each other's secrets and passions, growing ever closer together. Unlike so many tedious historical romances written today, the author movingly unfolds the development of their relationship. Ms. Haymore leaves the mystery surrounding their respective families almost to the end of the book. The characters acted (reasonably) as historical characters living in the 19th century and not as 21st century char... moreacters. I'm thrilled to discover Jennifer Haymore's moving and sensual stories, and I plan to read all her books.
review 2: This was a good read but not for under 18 readers. I believe there was almost every plot line that a Recency could come up with. First, Mother is taken from her home. Next is Luke, the son who has major issues with his Father and the rest of his family. Then Luke meets Emma who wants him to take her along to find the same man he is hunting who also killed her husband and stole her family's money. Somewhere in there is time for quite a few BDSM love scenes. It's an adult read but it's not dirty sex. I would gladly read this one over and over again. As this is the 2nd book in the series I will be waiting for the next book. If the BDSM aspect doesn't upset you give this book a chance. less
