The Amazing Tales of Max & Liz
review 1: I read this aloud to my 8 year old daughter, and it quickly became a favourite to both of us. I had to force her to listen to the first three chapters (she wasn't keen on my attempt at a Scottish accent :) ), but after that she was begging me for more chapters. Great if you want to dramatise different accents, lots of fun! Great truth about faith in this book, and some interesting possibilities of the hows of the Noah's Ark story. There were events in the second-last chapter that were tragic to my sensitive daughter, but we talked through them and everything was okay in the end. This book is sufficiently meaty that I'm glad that we did it as a read-aloud, because it gave us opportunities to discuss some of the concepts raised.
review 2: I really enjoyed th
... moreis book. The adventures of many amazing animals and their journey to Noah's Ark couldn't be portrayed in a more imaginative and creative way. My favorite parts were when all the animals went into the ark and their floors and stalls became their environments; they were filled with trees, vines, flowers, fruit, and much more for the tropical animals...for the polar bears and other arctic animals, the environment was icy and cold; perfect for their type. Defeating the dastardly villan, the devil, along the way, it called for thrills, chills, and a whole lot of book holding (meaning that I couldn't put the thick thing down!). When everyone got really tired of being there, they all started doing aerobics and the birds provided excersise music! It was an amazing adventure; of course it became all worthwhile when at the end, God spoke to Max, Liz, Big Al, and Kate and made them immortal. It was so wonderful! I recommend this book to everyone! less
