review 1: Judging from what Millar did with the first two volumes, this one is crap. It's disappointing. I would have loved the whole Ultimates series if they ended it with how it all turned out after Ulitmates 2. Not that I have something against this volume but really? Turning every single character into an asshole doesn't make it more fun. Granted the said characters already were obnoxious jerks but atleast Millar had the decency to put some rational reasons as to why they were like that. In this one though, I think Jeph Loeb thought that every single character just needs to be in trend. And come on! The whole bit about Pietro and Wanda is just plain nasty. It just came out of nowhere too. -_-I can't say much against the artwork - they were good. The details were somewhat great. ... moreAnd how The Wasp and Hawkeye was represented in new a costume, it was quite eye-catching. But the plot of it, oh the plot. It really is disappointing, even when they kinda need to build up for something such as the Ultimatum.
review 2: What the frakking hell Jeph Loeb? What happened to YOUR BRAIN? Sure, I'm not a big fan of the Ultimates. A lot of the time, it seems like someone in the office was yelling, "Darker! Edgier! More fucked up! NO, MORE! Turn EVERYONE into a huge asshole!" But at least the first two volumes had coherent storylines that were interesting enough to keep me reading. Loeb didn't even seem to really try. He seemed to think "fridge the women, throw in Ultron, and take a trip to the Savage Land," equaled a coherent plot. FAIL. SO MUCH FAIL. less
