review 1: A fantastic read that I couldn't put down until I had finished it. If you're into horror you should definitely check this out, Shipp is a unique talent in the world of horror writing. I write horror myself, but could never do what he does. I can't find the words to describe his style, it's such a mix of insanity and extreme intelligence that I've never seen before. These are some of the most unique stories I've ever read, you simply must check it out as the read is an almost impossible experience to describe.

Personally, I got the sense of a touch of allegory in the tales, specifically in relation to the damaging effects of some religious dogma - maybe that was just me. I doubt that hallucinogenic drugs could provide you with a more grotesquely freakish world. less
