review 1: I hated this book. I will admit to buying it on impulse because of the scintillating name. The name however was about all that appealed to me, as it turned out. I found the writing clumsy and amateurish, the characters poorly developed at best, and the plot nearly absent. I think this book would appeal to a reader feeling nostalgic for the '70s, but I honestly can't see the appeal for anyone else. I suppose it was supposed to be a coming of age story? I don't know...maybe it just wasn't my thing. I could go into more specifics of why I didn't like this and give examples of the poor, bloodless writing etc. but I don't think this book is worth the time (or worth reading, to be frank).
review 2: This book is perfect for anybody who likes a racy book. The book is
... morefirst person, out of the main character, Jamies eyes. Jamie is a 14 year old, living in 1976. Jamie has a lot going on in her life. She is the daughter of pot-smoking, nudist, naked party hosting parents. She has a very strained relationship with her older sister, who is away for the summer. Jamie is in a very racy relationship with her sisters crush, Flip. Accompanied by her two best friends, Jamie has lots of adventures in this book. Some are good, some are bad, but they definitely give the reader a lot to think about. If you do decide to read this book, get ready for a glance at summer in the 70's in California! less
