review 1: For the most part, Night Swim, was a good read. Right away I was sucked into the dynamic of Sarah's life and the late 60's. I loved how everyone was like-able, seriously flawed, but real. Some of the later flash backs seemed more like after thought thrown in. I also disliked the whole last chapter. A long, vague sentence wrapping up the loose ends of loved ones. Then it went from past to present so quickly, I had to read it again to understand. I wanted a better ending. One that brought the beginning of the book, the present, into the end of the book. The ending felt rushed. I often feel this way in a book with less than 200 pages.
review 2: Beautifully written story told from the point of view of teenage Sarah. Sarah and her family, which consists of 3 brothe
... morers and her father, lose their mother unexpectedly one winter day. Losing a mother is devastating, but losing a mother as a young child is even more so. I found myself relating to Sarah since I had also lost my mother as a teenager. Although not an uplifting read I do highly recommend this book. less
