review 1: Favorite QuotesHonestly, I thought the two of us had been on the same page about all of my hang ups since we’d started dating in high school. Riley had even helped me pick out a career to pursue when I’d explained to him that I wanted: something as far from my mother’s profession as possible. He’d suggested I be a kindergarten teacher because, as eighteen-year-old Riley had put it, “Seriously, babe, what’s more wholesome than being a kindergarten teacher? You can work with little kids and that will keep you busy while I’m deployed. It’s perfect for you.” Then with an eyebrow wiggle, he’d added, “And we can play teacher. That’s hot. When I left this house, I was not only leaving the memory of my beloved little boy who hadn’t had a chance to bless th... moreis earth. No, I was leaving as a woman who would no longer doubt whether she was worthy to love and to stand by instead of leaving behind. If I found the will to live again at all, I was not going to repeat my past mistakes of trying to mold myself into someone I was not. Nor was I going to beg or bend over backwards for the love of someone else. In fact, without a shred of doubt in my mind, I was aware of one solid fact: the old Kara was gone forever, and it was my turn to leave. She must have felt my eyes on her because, all of a sudden, she got this adorable little furrow between her brows and shifted her gaze to see the room behind her in the mirror. That’s when her eyes locked with my own and she gasped, dropping her lipstick. Twirling around on her high heels, one of her hands reached up to cover the area of chest over her heart, and a strangled sound left her throat. Taken aback by her reaction, I was about to apologize for obviously scaring her when I hadn’t meant to, but Lucas’s voice rang out from down the hall before I could open my mouth. “Yo! Sullivan! Bring your ass down here and stop checking the girls out.” I turned my head in Lucas’s direction as I flipped him the bird, but I was again cut off by a voice before I could tell him he could shove it up his ass. Only, this time, the voice that interrupted me was soft, feminine, and one I heard every night in my dreams. “Riley?” Motherfucker. That scantily clad stripper was my goddamn wifeKara Sullivan had a happy in her marriage with Riley or so she thought. Everything she wanted she had a loving husband, home, and a baby on the way. Everything changed one night when Riley agreed to take on an assignment and Kara was in a tragic accident that cost them their son. Kara makes a decision that her marriage is over and decides to divorce Riley and disappeared. Eight years later on a mission, Riley enters a strip club to see Kara dancing. Feeling helpless as he watches the women he loves dance all the guilt and issues he buried comes back to the surface. Can Riley and Kara forgive each other and themselves? Or will their past destroy any chance they have of finding their way back to each other? Or will Riley’s mission destroy it for them? This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.I loved the first book in this series but I would have to say this one tore at my heart even more…. Yes there are still hot sexy alpha males, strong women and intrigue. This book was one that cause me to go through the same emotional rollercoaster ride that both Riley and Kara did. From the first page to the last one they is love, happiness, laughter, sorrow, anger, heartache, despair. Then you have the hot sexy kickass alpha males who if I didn’t say it already were hot and sexy. JESSIE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! Cannot wait for the next in the series!!!FIVE ALPHA MALES ANGELS
review 2: Riley and Kara are married high school sweethearts. The only problem is that they've drifted apart with him hiding in SEAL assignments that keep him away and she has lost herself in visions of what their life together should be like. Then in an instant their life together is shattered and Kara leaves him while he is away on assignment oblivious to what has happened. She needs to find herself again and try to heal. He on the other hand is stuck in the hell of guilt and regret.Fast forward 8 years later and Riley is going on assignment with ExOps investigating women disappearing. He ends up at a strip club run by the MC and runs into Kara there. What are the chances? Holy hotness! This alpha male is over the top hot with his soul mate and he is ready to fight for her. Then someone vandalizes her photography studio and does a drive by shooting. So on top of everything else going on with the investigation, Riley and friends have to find out who is trying to kill Kara before they succeed. I so loved this story. The beginning broke my heart for Kara. I loved the suspense of both investigations happening in the midst of this love story. I was totally rooting for Riley and Kara to get back together. I absolutely have to read Ice's story soon. I am so intrigued.I give Stripping Her Defenses 5 hearts! less

It was okay for me - I found her writing a bit long winded but other than that I did like the book.
