review 1: I enjoyed the dynamics of this little town of Channings Hill. Cleo Quinn has lived in this area for most of her life. She is scared from the frequent teasing of her elementary school classmates due to her over enthusiasum to answer the teacher's questions. Johnny LaVenture was right up there teasing her endlessly about studying and basically being the teacher's pet. So Cleo went in the opposite direction and didn't pay attention in school. Her mom died when she was 11 years old and her much older sister and father ended up raising her. Cleo is presently a chauffeur. She meets a lot of people and has wonderful stories to tell. Johnny LaVenture comes back from New York to bury his father. We learn he is a very successful sculptor using wire as his medium. He d... moreecides to come back to Channings Hill and renovates his childhood home to be his residence and studio. Cleo's friend and next door neighbor is a popular morning radio personality, Ash Parry-Jones. He is a colorful character on the radio to people who he doesn't fancy and is very shy to those he is attracted to. This book has a lot of characters in the book who likes someone, but that someone likes someone else. It is frustrating for everyone, but in the end, we hope for a happily ever after. Great read as always for Jill Mansell.
review 2: By far and away, my favorite part of this book is the cover art. I just can't help it. The pink! The glossy foil! It's gorgeous, especially the actual physical book. I also like that I cannot read the title without immediately starting to sing Abba. I just cannot.So the actual book? Also really lovely. Exactly how I prefer my chick lit/women's fiction: funny and sweet with a dash of sarcastic british humor.After this one, I've got a stack of Jill Mansell books lined up to read next. less
