review 1: For some reason I thought this was a Christian romance novel. I quickly learned it's not. (Which for me is not a bad thing.) There are a few curse words including one that rhymes with truck. There are no sex scenes, but quite a few people are having fun together. I felt like there were too many side story lines, and the author spent a lot of time with them, so much so that at one point in the story I felt like the two main characters were now supporting characters and weren't going to come back into the story. It wasn't hard to keep track of all the characters and their stories, I just felt like a few of them could of been shortened so the romantic relationship of the two main characters could of been developed more fully. I still enjoyed the book, and laughed out loud qui... morete a bit. It is set in England, so some words are different from what Americans say, but you can tell what the words mean. This was a quick, easy, fluffy read. I will read more of Jill Mansell's books, but I won't be rushing out to get them right away.
review 2: This book is good for an easy Summer read. The story is interesting but unfortunately is very predictable. There are a couple of minor twists along the way but I felt that these could have been developed more and instead were resolved and dismissed too quickly.Having said that, I did enjoy it and liked the characters and descriptions of the locations the author used. I did feel like I could picture the village, the cottages and coffee shop and got to like and relate to the characters. Good for when you're not looking for anything too taxing! less
