review 1: maybe 3.5. maybe I am jaded with not being able to lose weight and so I am taking it out on the rating of this book. the things I liked, she has lots of experience, she seems real about health and it was a readable style. the things I don't like, seems trendy science (plastic in microwaves, organic food only, etc. not that those aren't things I do or don't do it just doesn't have a lot of years of study behind it), seems too easy like "if I just ate like my pioneer ancestors and worked like them too, then I could be skinny" well, okay. and I don't like that it is one more opinion that I have to sort through to figure out my own health...ahah! I am whining and taking it out on the book. when I am working with a nutritionist, a doctor and a personal trainer AND not losi... moreng weight it is frustrating to the point of wanting to give up. instead, I will continue to read book after book and eventually I think I will know what my body wants and doesn't want from each idea I learn.
review 2: Jillian Michaels actually "gets it" when it comes to struggles with weight related to metabolism. She also had hypothyroidism. I appreciate reading a book from someone with first hand experience with thyroid problems. I learned so much about the entire endocrine system. The biggest piece of advice I took from this book is to never eat after 8 pm because of the leptin and ghrelin balance in the body. Also, to get 8 hours of sleep at night because your body relieases HGH at night, which does great things for your metablolism. Quick,easy read with lots of great advice. less
