review 1: What a great story. I thought this book was so much better than The Forbidden Rose, there was a lot more spy stuff going on. Great plot and story line.I really liked Juliet and Hawker. Awesome couple, with great chemistry and some great sex scenes. There was a lot of dialogue throughout the book. I read along via audible and as for the narration, well it was fantastic! I love Kristen Potter's narrations, she gives everyone their own distinct voice and does accents and men's voices so good!
review 2: This book sticks to the bones. Like seriously. I felt shaken for at least three days after I finished it. Just so emotionally intense and with so much detail. I FELT for the characters. Oh Joanna. You kill me with your publishing schedule of a book every three year
... mores or so, but damn are they ever worth the wait. I haven't read any other author in recent memory who alters the shape of reality around me the way JB does. This was the first historical romance I've ever read that presented ANY of the popular French view in support of Napoleon, and she did a fantastic job. Kudos for that, especially. I'm glad someone finally offered the opposing view, because realistically, England has NOT always been the virtuous hero, and there are always two sides to any war. Napoleon would (likely) never have achieved what he did without a lot of popular support (by intelligent, patriotic human beings), but that is conveniently glossed over or deprecated in virtually all other books of this genre. So refreshing to read another viewpoint, but then "refreshing" describes all JB books, really. Love, love, love, love. You have my heart, Joanna Bourne. less

Didn't like it as well as the others. I jumped around, wasn't as romantic, was too rough a story.

The only thing bad I can say, is this author needs to write more books.
