review 1: A ride through a child's fantasy world as she tries to cope with her own depression, rage, and confusion. This book struck me close to the heart. I could relate to Barbara's disconnection with the world around her. She reminded me of a younger me, imagining fantastical being and living those adventures.This just isn't any other comic book fantasy story though. The story will make you tear at the end - with satisfaction, sadness, and happiness. I will be reading Barbara's story again soon.
review 2: Kelly and Niimura made me cry, and they should be ashamed of themselves. They took a cute story about an imaginative little girl, and then turned it into a heart-wrenching exploration of the difficulty in accepting the slow death of a loved one. The characters are al... morel wonderfully real, which makes their struggles and pain that much more affecting. The art is excellent.This is a fantastic book, one well worth reading, as long as you don't mind being reduced to a weeping mess. less
