Dead World
review 1: I was very disappointed in this book. I have loved the first three books in the series, and I understand that all authors have books that are not up to par with the rest of their work, but c'mon. The dialogue was stilted, there are gaping plot holes (I'm looking at you, magical iPad that still works in a world devoid of electricity), and the characters are insufferably resilient to the zombies until they fray your last nerve, at which point, mercifully, they die. I really think that this book would have been better presented as the old "Fun with Dick and Jane" primers they used to teach first graders how to read. A possible excerpt could go, "See Nate. See Nate run. Oops! Nate fell down. Stop whining and get up, Nate!"
review 2: Love, love, love this fast-pace
... mored thrill ride from Joe McKinney. This is the 4th installment of the Dead World Series about the Zombie Apocalypse and I have read them all. This book has great characters with larger than life personalities. I found that I got really invested in their story, where they came from, how they got where they are and most of all, I found myself cheering them on from the first page to the last. This one just makes me want to go back and read the other books in the series again. They are all worth a revisit! The progression of the zombie infection, the fall of civilization and the ultimate rise of mad men to positions of power makes so much sense that it is really scary to imagine that this is exactly what our world could become. McKinney makes this world believable and terrifying. His introduction of the Red Man is beyond terrifying and is a whole new take on evil in it's basest form. This completely breaks the standard zombie formula, along with all the old rules. For me this series ranks among the best of the genre and I really hope there is more coming. less

Despite the popularity of zombies, most zombie books are not very good. Neither is this one

Much better than the others in this series. Less groups of people to fallow!

Truly enjoyed. The ending was worth the payout of the long read.

I thought this one was great, except the very end.
