review 1: My first novel by Johan Theorin that takes place on Oland, Sweden ( a small island off the western coast ). A story about a man and wife with their two small children who move there from Stockholm to get away from big city life and from personal demons. Very shortly after their arrival, a tragedy takes place that has takened ahold of the family and tales of " ghosts " haunt their stay in their home and lighthouse. Good read.
review 2: I read this practically in two settings and it's my first time into Swedish fiction. The settings, pace, suspense was brilliantly done and it really pulled me in. Loved the intertwine of present, past and individual stories and it's been along time since I felt the characters this real. The only thing that let me down was the s
... moreilliness of the reason for the mystery (don't like spoilers)and the ending overall. This was far to unbelievable for me. less

This is a solid crime thriller that is written in quite a different vein to recent Nordic fiction.
