review 1: Mostly I just Sophie Blackall illustrations are cute. This was standard and meh and a bit bleh. Like, I'm all about these parodies of Victorian children's stories where kids who are wealthy and live in mansions with servants are horrible instead of polite and do silly things, but Lemony Snicket and Lois Lowry have done it better. Got halfway through the book and then couldn't be bothered. But Sophie Blackall? Points.
review 2: Alexander Baddenfield is a bad kid and he comes from a long line of bad people. A long line of bad people who meet their nasty end at a very young age.Alexander has a plan though. He will find a doctor who will transplant his cats nine lives into Alexander...and then Alexander will have NINE lives to live.Such a cute book, very dark humour
... more and no sudden realization on Alexander's part but it made me chuckle and I think kids would really like it(Also, it's written by John Bemelmans who is the grandson of Ludwig Bemelmans who wrote the Madeline series. How cool is that?) less
