review 1: There are so many different kinds of stories all on the same theme - what happens when Holmes is forced to confront the very things science can't explain? The trick to making this work is that Holmes and Watson are not changed to fit the situation. Rather, they are still themselves, now forced to confront new information and assimilate it into their respective world views. In most cases within, this is exceptionally well done. Like any anthology, there are works here of greater or lesser quality, but on the whole, this collection is brilliant. Special kudos to Robert J. Sawyer, whose story is the grand finale in this collection. It was bittersweet and profound in ways I haven't experienced in a long time.
review 2: This is a collection of short stories written
... moreby a variety of artists. Some of it is a little crazy (alternate reality?) while others remain true to Sir Doyle's style. Some of these are brilliant, most are good and a few resemble mediocre fanfic. But it's fine because even if you're on one of the so-so stories, you know that it won't be long before it's over and you get to start another one. I enjoyed this a great deal. less

Most of these stories are interesting. Fully a quarter of them totally sucked, though.

Unfinished. Will need to return to this at a later date to read the final 7 stories.

Excellent stories by Barbara Hambly, Sharyn McCrumb, and Michael Moorcock.
