review 1: I bought this book for a friend who was struggling and we read it together. While I don't struggle too much with depression, I was still challenged and encouraged by Comer's words.Comer sees depression as a symptom of the soul. As such, it is a real opportunity to figure out what is out of sync. This is not to say that depression is a sin, its much more complicated than that. There are a variety of complex factors in play because humans are body + soul creatures. Although the book is 250 pages... not really. Some of the paragraphs are one word and the formatting makes for short chapters. The content is great but there isn't a ton of it. I think I read the whole book in about two hours.
review 2: I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book or not, but a friend reco
... moremmended it and gave it to me to read. The title and sub title are misleading. This book is not only for those that are depressed or suffering from hopelessness. It's a wonderful book about how to live a life of joy and gratitude. To feel everything and have faith in the future. The future God has planned for you, not the one you have inside your head. I loved this book and can't recommend it highly enough. It's not overly religious but does have a spiritual theme and does talk about God. less
