review 1: I enjoyed this book. I picked it out because I don't know much about Vietnam. The book centers around Iris and Noah who move to Vietnam to start a center for orphan children. Iris's father was a soldier in Vietnam and suffered from PTSD. Noah was a soldier in Iraq and is suffering from his own PTSD. Their stories are good, but I really enjoyed the stories of the chidren whom they meet. It wasn't a particularly gripping book and much of the story lines were predictable, but I still learned a lot and enjoyed it.

I wept inconsolably for Tam and Qui - feeling so very blessed for the life of my littlest nieceling and the medical resources she was freely able to access. Deeply touching on many levels, this novel is one that I feel compelled to ask anyone who loves me dearly to read. less
