review 1: Wat een spannend maar ook gecompliceerd verhaal. Door de vlotte schrijftaal toch begrijpelijk te lezen. Door de vele ontwikkelingen lijkt het heel ingewikkeld maar aan het eind komt het allemaal weer bij elkaar. Natuurlijk wel iets van een open eind, tenslotte is dit een trilogie maar de auteur laat je niet ergens halverwege bungelen. Ik heb van elke pagina genoten en kan haast niet wachten op het volgende deel.
review 2: Started off well with promise of a meaty complex thriller. Gave up however two thirds in due to lazy characterisation, merely okay dialogue and two less than likeable lead detectives. The two stars are for the evocation of an intriguing Venice that's full of character ( author seemed more intent on bringing Venice to life than his characters )... more. Won't read the last third as I find myself not caring 'whodunit'. less
