review 1: Just so anyone interested in this book knows, a lot of what 'Captain' Caleb says and thinks is lewd, crude and socially unacceptable. And I don't freakin' care!! Jordan is now waaaay up at the top of my 'Must Buy' list of authors! Loved this book! I also loved getting so much of the male POV. Fascinating.I'm pretty sure I am not strong enough myself to have a man like this in my life, but I definitely like reading about him and I certainly hope that there are actually men like him, who are strong, caring, sexy, nurturing, HOT, supportive and just drop dead hunky, in real life. I haven't ever read a man's POV that is quite so blatantly male in every way. They are usually 'prettied' up in most of the books with a man's POV that I have read before. NOT in this story! Did I me... morention how hot he is? If I say anymore about Caleb it will probably have to include a spoiler alert, so on with the review.Let's talk about the heroine for a moment. Melissa is both a very strong character and yet heartrendingly damaged. She got on my nerves a bit but then I had to remind myself that 1, it is fiction, and 2, with what she went through it was totally reasonable for her to be so messed up and to take so long to recover. I ended up loving her almost as much as Caleb. This was my first Jordan story, now I know what all the fuss is about. Fair warning, you probably will either love this or hate it. Personally, I loved it. So glad this story went on sale so I could purchase it.
review 2: This story started out very good! I especially liked Caleb! However, about halfway through, the story became a rather draining. Caleb constantly having to reassure Melissa, along with her insecurities became redundant. I think this story would have been better suited as a short story, around 150 pages, rather than a 360 page novel. Plus some editing wouldn't hurt either. There were far too many typos and grammatical errors which distracted from the story. This story had great potential, but it just didn't live up to it. less
