review 1: Another cute mystery featuring Sadie Hoffmiller. I felt sorry for her in this book, though, because she got left out of a lot of stuff. She was kept in the dark a lot of the time, and for those of you who have read these books, you know that was pretty hard for Sadie. I was excited for something that happened at the end of the book that I have been waiting for for awhile. Good things happened for pretty much everyone at the end of the book.
review 2: Another fun sleuthing adventure with Sadie Hoffmiller, her steady boyfriend Peter, and her two children, brought together on an Alaskan cruise to cement family relationships in preparation for Sadie and Pete getting engaged. The setting was fun for me because I have been on an Alaskan cruise and can picture all the... more events and ports. However, the family didn't get to enjoy it much because of the immediate tension about a secret Shawn is keeping and long-distance problems Breanna is having with her to-be mother-in-law running roughshod over her wedding plans. Sadie is almost over-the-top with maternal concerns at times, plus, she didn't get the chance for cooking (although she did critique the food on the ship line and in ports)--both drawbacks for me in this installment. A tight story, nevertheless, with several lines of development that kept us guessing about where the real mystery lay, but I didn't enjoy it quite as much as some of Kilpack's other stories. less
