review 1: In retrospect, I like this book better. It's a difficult topic about a true life event in Marin county in maybe the 80's(?) What I didn't like about the book, the long delay in learning the truth, is probably the same thing that makes the discussion of the event so difficult. It was a stalker encounter by a teenager and the story is told by the teenager. The investigator is the father of the teenager. It takes decades for the truth to come out and that drove me nuts. I would be a lousy cold case detective. Creepy is the tone. I thought the teenagers voice was effective and much different than the teenager's voice in Casebook which I read the same week by Mona Simpson. Again, another really good women's book club book.
review 2: Circa 1979, a book abou
... moret two sisters Rachel and Patty Torricelli whose life is changed forever when a serial killer starts leaving the bodies of young girls all over the trails of their beloved mountain. Their father is the head detective on the case and the girls become too involved, acting, unbeknownst to their father as mini sleuths on the case. Too much repetition in descriptions and implausible. less

I loved this book. It had some slow moments but hang in there.
