review 1: I have read all 13 books of J R Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. She creates such a real fantasy over/underworld, heaven/hell, good vs. bad series. you can not wait to read about the next brother. Each brother has character flaws/issues to overcome that make them more personable and real. And of course are all obscenely handsome in spite of their own personal hurdles to jump while battling the urban fantasy's world of evil. I highly recommend them all; not a bad one in the bunch. Her last book was just recently in March of 2013, and may have been her most challenging to write, but she nailed it!
review 2: Loved these books and have read them multiple times. J R Ward is my favourite author. My only complaint in the past has been the frequency (or lack o... moref) that the BDB books are released.Having said that, I have read the whole BDB series to date and was extremely disppointed with Lover Unleashed.I could go on and on about what I thought was lacking in the story line, but I think the simplest way to sum this book up, is to say that it probably shouldn't have been written.It was very obvious J R's heart wasn't in the book and it was unfair to her loyal fans to produce such an inferior story when the lead character had previously been portayed (in her appearnces in other books) as being a strong willed an independent woman.I have always waited with baited breath for every BDB novel and pre-order the Hard Cover prior to release. But I never thought I would ever say that if the next book is as disappointing as this one I won't bother continuing the series. I would rather focus on the stength of the first 8 books than to tarnish my perception of the writer. less
