review 1: I received this book from the Author through the m/m romance group's Don't Buy Me Love Program in exchange for an honest review. Ms. Bozza honestly really surprised me with this. Though it most definitely is well written, it happens to be in a style that I really dislike, including one word that I had to look up the definition of. It's amazing to think that I went from at 20% thinking this would be one of those rare DNF books to giving it a 4 star rating. That's a first for me. I start out with the things that I didn't like. Simply put the wording reminded me of old fashioned historical or harlequin romances. Here are some examples..."deeply fancy""darkly handsome countenance""happy wantonness had lit a fire within""affectionate triumph""kissing full bloodedly""a lovel... morey cock: a goodly size and an elegant shape""pleasure overwhelmed him.... seed pulsed out" Ugh! I'm sorry but I strenuously dislike that type of phrasing. What I loved about it though is that Grae, Ben & Chris are wonderful characters and their story came across as genuine. We all know that a poly relationship would not be all sunshine, sweet words and roses. We have three men with their own self doubts all trying to make themselves and each other happy. For the first 35% percent of the book I truly felt sorry for Ben because it still didn't feel like a menage to me, but a triangle. However, Ms. Bozza managed to turn things around, make me actually feel somewhat sorry for one of the other guys instead and turn this into a true menage that I believed 100%.
review 2: Another characteristically exquisite novel from Julie Bozza. There's just nothing like her use of the written word and for the prose alone, this book earns an extra star in my opinion. However, I have some quibbles with the story itself. Grae, in his own words, is a selfish git and I didn't like him much. I hated how deceptive he was in courting Ben and Chris in the first place. Ben was not very well represented and he seemed cold and disinterested for the most part. He talked a good game but there was this distance between what he was saying and what I got from him as a reader. Chris was similarly underdeveloped and seemed to be lacking in depth for save for the last chapter in the novel. I did enjoy their connection but it felt it could have been borne out a bit more convincingly. Their relationship was too rushed and a bit shallow in my opinion. less

Currently working on figuring out how to word my review so that it's not overly long. Bear with me.
